“If there is a book that you want to read, but it hasn’t been written yet, you must be the one to write it.”
-Toni Morrison

I launched the #1000BlackGirlBooks campaign when I was 10 — just a kid with a love for reading and a hunger to see Black girls in the pages. That campaign became a global resource, collecting over 15,000 books and reshaping conversations about diversity in children’s literature.
If you’re looking for books with Black girl protagonists, we have created the #1000BlackGirlBooks Resource Guide. Today, I’m still writing, researching, and imagining freer futures—on this page and far beyond it.
This is your THIRD SPACE.
Ad-free. Spam-free. Intention-rich.
Every post comes straight to your inbox. For the full experience — audio, notes, community — download the Substack app.
Paid subscriptions keep this work alive and growing. Free ones still mean the world.
I created THIRD SPACE to archive the stories I didn’t see growing up—Black girls, Black grief, Black genius. If you want to help me keep this going, you can Buy Me A Coffee my work here.
